Kathleen A. Gillespie
Kathleen A. Gillespie (Kathy) was born 1942 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan (a suburb of Detroit).
Kathy moved to New Richmond, OH in 1979, where she has resided ever since, when Ford Motor Company
relocated her husband Joe and family to Cincinnati for the launch of the Batavia Transmission
Plant which opened in 1981. She earned her A.S. degree in Word Processing in 1983 and her B.S.
degree in Humanities (Communications’ major) in 1992 from the University of Cincinnati.
Kathy has been married to Joe for 43 years. They have two daughters and two sons, and seven grandchildren.
Kathy's work experience includes:
- Secretary/Office Administrator in a land surveying office in Michigan
- Office Administrator/Receptionist in two different court reporting firms in Cincinnati
- Dictation teacher in Court Reporting Department at University College, U.C., Cincinnati
- LCCBC Recruiter 1998-2002
Kathy's LCCBC volunteer service includes:
- Certified LCCBC tutor in 1992; been tutoring ever since
- Certified Laubach tutor trainer July, 1997; been active trainer since
- LLA Supervising Trainer September, 1997
- Board member from 1996-1998
- ESOL trained tutor January 1998
- Volunteer LCCBC Student-Tutor Committee chairman
- Volunteer monitor/tutor in adult group dyslexia class; trained new monitor/tutors
- Various speaking engagements for LCCBC
- Spelling BEE co-chairperson
- Rejoined LCCBC Board as a member in January, 2004
Besides being grandma (which she loves!), Kathy enjoys reading and walking / hiking.
