Suzanne Bona-Hatem
Suzanne Bona-Hatem was born in Bridgeport, CT in 1963, and is a product of the excellent public
schools in nearby Fairfield, CT where she grew up. She earned a Bachelor of Music in the School
of Fine Arts at The University of Connecticut in Storrs, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1985.
In the 80s and 90s Suzanne played flute professionally in orchestras throughout Connecticut,
and belonged to several small chamber music ensembles. She also taught music to students in private
and public school programs, and gave individual music lessons.
Since 1987, she has also enjoyed a career in public radio, first as an announcer and program
director at WSHU in Fairfield, CT, and later as an announcer/producer at
WGUC Cincinnati. Since
1998 she has been host and executive producer of
Sunday Baroque, a nationally distributed early
music program she first developed in 1987.
Suzanne is married to Ron Bona-Hatem, and their only "child" is their orange tabby cat, Cleo.
Under the auspices of the Literacy Council, since 2003 Suzanne has tutored an
English-as-a-Second-Language student, has worked behind the scenes of the annual Spelling Bee,
and is on the fundraising committee. She has also volunteered for a variety of other causes over
the years, including her neighborhood civic association, numerous social service agencies and
political organizations & candidates.
In addition to her still active flute playing, she enjoys reading, running, biking, and cooking.
