Dear friend,
Thank you for taking a few minutes to learn more
about what is occurring at the Literacy Council of
Clermont & Brown Counties. We have fund
raising events planned for May, June and July.
Tutors and Students have been progressing together as
cold weather gives way to spring. We hit a record
number of 17 tutors trained at the close of our March
Twelve-Hour Tutor Training Series. There is great
flurry of activity buzzing about these days and it's all
good.
May a good READ find its way into your
lap,
Susan Susan

| Thank you Jan and Putters Tavern
and Grill
We have a ray of sunshine
to share during challenging times. Thanks to the
generosity of Jan Collins, owner of Putters Tavern and
Grill in Milford, The Literacy Council of Clermont &
Brown Counties enjoyed the "luck of the Irish" on St.
Patty's Day. Jan not only donated 10% of all food
sales on March 17th to benefit the agency, she rounded
up the donation by making her personal contribution at
the close of that day's business. The money will be used
to further our mission to provide free one-on-one tutors
for adults who are motivated to change their lives by
learning to read and write. Our heart-felt gratitude to
the Milford community, especially business owners
like Jan Collins, for their enthusiastic support and
advocacy.

AUCTION! AUCTION!
AUCTION!
Literacy Council Auction Inspired by a
Dream
RJ Vilardo has a dream. He dreams
the Literacy Council of Clermont & Brown Counties
will stop scrambling from year to year to make ends
meet. The dream is to help the council keep its
doors open to the public without financial worry.
RJ and his wife, Mary Sue, were smitten with the
Literacy Council about six years ago when their oldest
daughter, Susan became the Executive Director.
Susan and her five siblings agree - their parents like
to roll up their sleeves and get involved. Mary
Sue signed up to be a volunteer tutor and along with RJ
has been a "regular" at nearly every fund raising event
organized by LCCBC. Recently, RJ had begun
to pursue a very special dream of his own; to become a
certified Auctioneer; not a problem given his out going
and humorous personality. During this time RJ
approached the board of directors with an idea, "Let's
start holding Auctions to benefit the agency. I
will donate my time as the Charity Auctioneer."
Dreams ignite and take off. On
Saturday, May 9th the Literacy Council will host their
first fund raiser Auction at St. Timothy Episcopal
Church, 8101 Beechmont Ave., Anderson (45255.)
Registration and Preview begins at 8:30 a.m. with the
Auction starting at 9:15 a.m. All potential
bidders must register. Visa, Master Card, Check or
Cash will be accepted. The agency is
seeking items for donations. The council is also
anticipating a strong "bidder turn-out." (Notice
the Auction language? We are learning.) For more
information or to donate items, contact: Susan,
Executive Director (and RJ's daughter,)
